چکیده

The mathematical moclel developed at Texas A &. M University (Tw for a sealed nickel-cadmium cell is modified to enable predictions of an aerospace nickel-cadmium batte~ under any desired charge-discharge schedule. The cell model is based on a macrohomogeneous description of porous electrodes and takes into account various processes such as mass transport in the liquid phase, charge transfer and solid-state. diffusion of proton in the nickel oxide. The relevant equations for the above processes are solved by a numerical approach. In this paper, the various parameters describing the above phenomenon have been optimized to obtain a closer prediction of the charge-discharge behavior of an aerospace cell. Upon optimizing the model parameters, the peflormance of the aerospace nickel-cadmium cell is simulated under various experimental conditions, i.e., at different rates and temperatures. Finally, generic Ragone plots for the cell and typical Ttiel plots for cadmium and nickel electrodes at various state of charge are constructed from the simulations and compared with the experimental data,

Adsorption of Ni(II) and Cd(II) from Aqueous Solutions Using Modified Rice Husk

Background and purpose: Recently, release of pollutants such as heavy metal ions to the environment becomes one of the most important problems for soil and water. The present study was conducted to introduce modified rice husk (RH) as a new low-cost adsorbent. Materials and Methods: In this study, tartaric acid modified RH (TARH), was used as an adsorbent for removal of Ni(II) and Cd(II) from w...

Fuzzy, ANFIS and ICA Trained Neural Network Modeling of Ni-Cd Batteries Using Experimental Data

Nowadays, because of the many applications of batteries, modeling of this energy sources and accurate estimation of their behavior at different conditions is very important. In the traditional linear mathematical based models of batteries, nonlinear behavior of them and the variation of battery voltage during charge and discharge states are neglected. But various nonlinear physical, chemical an...

Urinary excretion of an oxidative stress marker, 8-hydroxyguanine (8-OH-Gua), among nickel-cadmium battery workers.

The relationship between oxidative stress and carcinogenic metals including nickel and cadmium is a matter of interest. To assess the oxidative stress status of workers exposed to nickel and cadmium simultaneously, we determined urinary excretion of 8-hydroxyguanine (8-OH-Gua), a urinary oxidative stress marker. Our subjects were 66 (64 males and 2 females) nickel-cadmium battery workers. Spot ...

Competitive Adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd from Aqueous Solution Onto Fly Ash-Based Linde F(K) Zeolite

The reaction of fly ash with a KOH solution was used to synthesize Linde F(K) zeolite, following which Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the crystalline material. The competitive adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd onto this zeolite was subsequently studied in quaternary solution systems. The results show that the metal removal rates gradually increase with incr...

Low cost RISC implementation of intelligent ultra fast charger for Ni–Cd battery

This paper presents a low cost reduced instruction set computer (RISC) implementation of an intelligent ultra fast charger for a nickel–cadmium (Ni–Cd) battery. The charger employs a genetic algorithm (GA) trained generalized regression neural network (GRNN) as a key to ultra fast charging while avoiding battery damage. The tradeoff between mean square error (MSE) and the computational burden o...
